bump diary
From 19 weeks to 21 weeks.
It changes every day, and looks bigger and smaller in different clothes. But there's no denying it now...there is definitely a baby in there. I'm still desperate to show it off at any opportunity, hence some stereotypical "pregnant woman" poses! And notice that I can't resist wearing leggings now, I feel like such a pregnant woman in them!

baby on board!
Since getting pregnant we've been singing "baby on board" around the house, in the style of the barber-shop quartet on The Simpsons. Which inspired me to ask my craft bud Sarah to make me a badge with this very slogan. It's amazing, and my photo does it very little justice. I'm going to proudly wear it every day for the next 4 months!
thank you Sarah! She has a wonderful etsy shop called magasin
Now I just need to think of other maternity accessories to make and buy!

kitted out for yoga!
I start pregnancy yoga next Wednesday, and I suddenly realised today that I have nothing to wear for such an occassion. I rarely wear trousers and when I do they're jeans, so I had to go and shop for some more sensible leg-wear. I've never worn leggings in my adult life, I think they're just tights with no feet, but it seems that the rounder I get the less I mind about looking silly. It's a lovely feeling! So I've got my first ever pair of grown up leggings. And a gross baggy tshirt. But I feel great in it because I LOVE my bump so much! It makes every outfit a million times better.
I knew that I was going to love growing a bump, but it's surpassed all expectations...I love that instead of worrying about "looking fat" in things, I want to show my belly in all it's glory.
Maybe I'll change my tune in a month or two when I struggle to waddle around
We looked at prams in Mama's and Papa's, and tiny clothes at Baby Gap, yesterday. So exciting!

girl power
liddle
It's a girl!
I would have been just as happy saying it's a boy, but it feels so nice to know. One step closer to it being real.

chocoholic
I'm 19 weeks and 6 days.
Any fans of partridge will know that chocolate addiction is a serious illness. I'm an addict. I honestly cannot resist the call of the good stuff. And with every bite I feel guilty that it contains very little goodness for baby. I should add that I've not always been this way, it's an unfortunate side effect of my pregnancy. I'm obsessed with eating lots of good stuff to cancel it out, but that just means that I end up eating loads. I'm gonna be such a fatty!
In the name of pregnancy health I've been looking into pregnancy yoga. It's supposed to be really helpful for all the aches and pains, and the breathing can help with childbirth. I borrowed a book from work but I'm struggling to learn the moves without stopping halfway through a stretch to look at the pictures. I've also signed up for a class but have to wait for someone to pop for a space for me.
Tomorrow is our 20 week scan. SO EXCITED.

bump
My belly growing from 17 - 19 weeks. Kind of wish I'd taken one before I was showing at all, but it's still so exciting to see it start to grow.

I couldn't resist making a treasury of some baby finds on etsy. Might come in useful when baby's born!

first kick!
I'm 18 weeks and 3 days.
I just felt the baby kick for the first time. I've been reading for weeks about how the baby first makes itself known, and have been over-analysing every flutter in the hope that it's baby and not food. But this time, halfway through a chocolate bar, the baby most certainly moved around. Maybe it's a sugar rush! I put my hand on my belly and felt a definite kick. I could cry it's so exciting. There's really a little person in there! Wowee.

bump
I'm 18 weeks today!
I was going to do a post about maternity wear, as I just spent half an hour trudging around shops squinting up at the ceilings looking in vain for a "maternity" sign. None. No-where seems to do it. A few shops do have maternity wear online, some of which looks pretty good, namely h&m and oddly ASOS (which I've never bought anything from before, but it definitely has the biggest range I've found). But to be honest I'm probably a month away from needing to buy any maternity wear...I've got lots of smock-like dresses which'll fit me the whole way through, and I still fit about 80% of my wardrobe. I did buy a size medium dress from zara, which would usually drown me but now my belly is skimming the edge. Exciting!
So because of my disappointment with not being able to actually browse any maternity wear in person (and may I just add that every time I asked a shop assistant if they had maternity wear they would stare at my stomach while saying no. i felt like my belly wasn't big enough and I was being judged), I had a look on etsy to see if I could find anything there. There are a few items I might think about buying later on, but I got distracted by cute baby/children's clothes. LOOK....
an amazing shop of handmade jumpers for kids. best.shop.ever. amarinalevin
I also had a good look at one of my favourite shops for japanese craft magazines. i might have to buy one for inspiration/help crafting for baby.

inspiration
I am about 17 and a half weeks.
I love looking at baby stuff online, it feels like research sometimes because there's so much to think about and buy. Most of my favourite things to look at are ridiculously expensive or unneccessary, but the practical stuff is actually quite interesting too. Like how to choose a pram. And a cot. And the luxury stuff is more for inspiration...I'm going to try to make as many things as I can. We'll rely on being given lots of the practical bits, but I'm looking foward to some scouring of nearly new sales/car boots/charity shops for all the bits to make the baby's room amazing.
Some of my favourite blogs from baby related inspiration are;
cakies: a sweet blog by a mum of 4, always packed with pictures of her little girls and has some great inspiration for kids clothes and decorating kids rooms...I love the simple bunting in this picture and could definetely make something similar to drape around a cot.
atelier pour enfants: a brilliant blog on (mostly vintage) children's books and illustration. It's in French but a cute book is a cute book in any language.
finelittleday: one of my favourite blogs any way, but baby-wise this is great for confirmation that I love Swedish design and will be looking for lots of patterns and colours in my second hand shopping for decorative bits. Plus all the doll's house posts are always amazing.
lenacorwin: nice baby textile pictures. I'm desperately searching for a reasonably priced patchwork quilt. might have to be brave and make one.
bkids: the kids section of the bloesem blog is really good. everything is expensive and perfect, but we can all aspire. i like the sneak peak type stuff looking at people's houses...like Ines of La Casita de Wendy whose house, and baby, are in the photo below
